Doctor Who Series 10 MAJOR SPOILER Reaction and Theories

Well with every new season of Doctor Who comes news about filming locations, possible plots and also some spoilers

Unfortunately for Doctor Who there have been a lot of great surprises spoiled because of the internet, cell phones and frankly some people just like to ruin things for the rest of us.

Back in the spring of 2013, there was a mistake and a bunch of Series 7 blurays were released earlier than intended. The BBC had to plead with the people who received these blurays due to there being a major revelation in the last few minutes of the final episode of Series 7 “The Name of the Doctor.” Sadly for me I had the surprise ruined (I like to find spoilers) but I still enjoyed the episode none the less.

This same situation has happened yet again, this time during a press screening of the Series 10 premiere episode “The Pilot.” At the very end of the episode there is a trailer for the second episode and in the trailer there is a massive spoiler, so big in fact there is a countdown warning you in case you don’t want to know until the episode airs.

Sadly someone from a British tabloid newspaper who wanted to be the person who got some huge scoop on Doctor Who decided to post said spoiler which caused The BBC and Steven Moffat to make an official announcement.

I for one will give you the opportunity to stop reading now if you don’t want to know, MAJOR SPOILER WARNING! Okay still here, well here is the big news *drum roll* John Simm will be reprising his role as The Master!

Now I for one am very excited with this news! First being is that Capaldi finally gets to face The Master, now I know what you’re thinking, “Wait, Missy is The Master!” Yes, but let me explain. Every encounter between The Twelfth Doctor and Missy hasn’t felt like a true Doctor vs Master showdown. It’s been more of a weird flirty relationship and she seems like she wants to help the Doctor rather than defeat him. I like John Simm returning because it makes it seem like they are finally giving Capaldi a chance to have a real battle of wits against The Master akin to the classic who days and Tennant era. I love Utopia and The Sound of Drums so if we can get a Master episode close in quality to that, I will be very happy.

I have a few theories as to how John Simm’s Master returns and also the implications of him returning.

The Master was last seen in The Tenth Doctor’s final adventure stopping Rassilon and The Time Lords from destroying the earth by bringing Gallifrey back. The Master disappeared back into The Time Lock along with Rassilon and the rest of Gallifrey.

Here is what I think The Master’s return means and why he is going to return in Series 10. We will see what happened to The Master following the events of The End of Time and how Rassilon regenerated into Donald Sumpter. We will see what happened to Gallifrey before and after the events of The Day of The Doctor which ties into how all the Doctors were there including the incumbent Twelfth Doctor.

John Simm will regenerate (probably) into Missy and maybe even Missy will regenerate.

Twelve will die after saving Gallifrey and he will find it which will lead into the next Series.

The only way this could possibly work is if it is told over three parts. The problem lies in the execution and I am worried it won’t be executed well. I am still very excited for Series 10 and cannot wait to see what is in store for the Doctor and his new companions!

What say you? Do spoilers bother you? Are you excited for Series 10? Whatever your thoughts let me know!
