The Flash Season 2 Episodes 1-3 Quick Review/Reactions

Well it’s back people, one of the best, if not the best new shows last fall, The Flash is finally back! This show continues to amaze and surprise me, and I think it is probably my second favorite show after Doctor Who!

Quick Recap, last season on The Flash, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), confronted and stopped his archenemy Eobard Thawn(Tom Cavanagh) which opened a wormhole in Central City! The season ended with The Flash running into the wormhole to try and stop it!

Season Two flash forwards six months to after the singularity almost destroyed Central City. Barry is busy saving people by himself as The Flash and his friends Cisco and Caitlin are busy with their own lives.

We flashback to six months ago and find out that The Flash wasn’t able to close the wormhole alone with his speed, so Firestorm (Dr. Stein and Ronnie Raymond) flew up into the singularity and removed the device bonding them, which separated the two of them ( killing Ronnie in the singularity, and only Dr. Stein survived thanks to the help of Barry).

Barry feels responsible for Ronnie’s death and shuts himself off from everyone else, until a meta-human named Atom Smasher shows up in Central City and tries to kill Barry! Team Flash comes to Barry’s aid and they stop him and find out a man named Zoom sent him to kill Barry! Meanwhile another person is brought into the fold, Patty Spivot, who wants to join the meta-human task force with Detective Joe West, because one of the meta-humans killed her father.

Barry, Iris, Joe, Cisco, Dr. Stein and Caitlin are all at S.T.A.R. Labs when there is a breach. A man shows up introduces himself as Jay Garrick and warns that Barry’s world is in danger.

In episode two, Barry runs into yet another meta-human called Sand Demon, who claims to have been sent by Zoom to kill Barry just like Atom Smasher.

Jay Garrick reveals that he is from another earth, which the team calls Earth 2. Dr. Stein and Cisco discover that there are more wormholes in Central City, 52 to be exact! (a clear reference to the New 52 universe!). Jay Garrick says that he was fighting his enemy Zoom on his Earth, when a wormhole opened pulling him in, bringing him to Barry’s world. Jay says that Zoom somehow stole his speed and he doesn’t know how. Jay teaches Barry how to hurl lightning that he creates from the speed force to stop Sand Demon (because the lightning will turn Sand Demon to glass stopping him). Barry successfully stops Sand Demon and saves Patty Spivot, who was kidnapped by Sand Demon. Cisco and Dr. Stein discover one of the wormholes is inside S.T.A.R. Labs!

In a post credits scene, we see Earth-2 and are introduced to none other than Harrison Wells! (Tom Cavanagh)

Episode 3 focuses on one of Barry’s Rogue’s Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). Barry (pretending to be a criminal, hilariously I might add) stops Leonard and his father, Stuart Snart (Michael Ironside) from stealing some diamonds. Apparently Stuart was abusive to Lisa Snart/Golden Glider when she was a little girl, something Leonard has never forgiven his father for. Leonard kills his father in revenge freezing his heart (ouch!) and Barry is visibly shocked at this turn of events. Meanwhile Jay is attempting to stabilize the wormhole so that he can return to his world. He explains that the wormholes connecting the two Earths are like doors, but the hallway leading to the doors keeps moving, so if they can stop the hallway from moving then they can travel between them! While Barry was stopping Leonard and his father Stuart from stealing diamonds, Jay found a way to stabilize the wormhole! Caitlin convinces Jay to stay in Central City until they stop Zoom (looks like Caitlin has a crush!)

In a post credits scene, Harrison Wells arrives through the wormhole in S.T.A.R. Labs!

I am loving Season 2 of The Flash and am very much looking forward to the rest of the season!

EPISODE 1: 10/10

EPISODE 2: 9/10

EPISODE 3: 8/10

What I liked:

Finding out what happened at the end of Season One

The Introduction of Zoom and a new story arc

The introduction of Jay Garrick and Earth-2

The introduction of wormholes

The New 52 reference!

The introduction of Earth-2 Dr. Harrison Wells

The Flash changing his emblem to white, it looks so much better

The question of whether or not Earth-2 Harrison Wells is good or evil, and what his motives are.

What I disliked:

The Captain Cold episode, minus the wormhole and the scene with Harrison Wells arriving through the wormhole, it was a filler episode.

What say you? Are you enjoying The Flash? Do you like this season? Who do you think Zoom is? Whatever your thoughts let me know!
