Television 2015: What to Look Out For

There are a lot of new and returning shows that will be premiering in 2015, and I thought I could give everyone a quick list of shows they should look out for come January, February etc. Some of these shows are returning favorites and some are brand new to television, but there are ones that everyone should pay particular attention to come 2015.

SUITS (2011-Present, USA)

Suits follows the story of genius, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who despite not having a law degree is a walking encyclopedia of everything related to law and being a lawyer. This show is one of the best on TV right now and has a great cast led by Gabriel Macht, who plays hotshot lawyer, Harvey Specter. He serves as Mike’s mentor and father/brother figure. Suits is one of the best written shows on TV right now and has just the right amount of drama and comedy. It’s definitely worth a look and be sure to be on the look out for it when it returns to finish its fourth season on January 28th.

Better Call Saul (2015, AMC)

This show serves as a prequel and sequel to the popular AMC show, Breaking Bad. This series will focus on sleazy criminal lawyer, Saul Goodman, and his life before he encountered Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. This looks to be a good show, lead by Bob Odenkirk, who is well cast as the wise talking lawyer. If you are a fan of Breaking Bad, you should definitely check this out come February.

Brooklyn Nine Nine (2013-Present, FOX)

This comedy focuses on the team of New York City Police Detectives in The 99th Precinct in Brooklyn, New York. This show has great writing and a great cast led by the hilarious Andy Samberg and starring Andre Braugher, who provides deadpan delivery as the Captain of The 99. If you are looking for a new show to watch, definitely check this out, the show is consistently funny.

Castle (2009-Present, ABC)

This show focuses on crime writer, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), who serves as a consultant for the NYPD and partners with Detective Kate Beckett to solve murders. Richard Castle is a very likable character and it’s great to see him work with Kate Beckett (who is now his wife) to solve murders. After seven seasons, Castle is still an engaging and exciting show and doesn’t feel stale. If you are looking for a new show to watch, Castle is definitely worth a look.

Arrow (2012-Present,The CW)

The superhero drama that focuses on billionaire playboy, Oliver Queen, who becomes the superhero known as Green Arrow. Oliver Queen decides to save his home of Starling City from criminals and the corrupt. Arrow is in the middle of its third season and continues to get better and better. The show has a pretty good cast led by Stephen Amell, and has just recently begun establishing its own universe, which it shares with the new hit show The Flash. If you are looking for a fun, exciting, shocking and pretty good television show, look no further than The CW’s Arrow.

Mad Men (2007-Present, AMC)

This drama initially set in the late 1950’s, but later the 1970’s focuses on the advertising world in New York City. Mad Men is currently in the middle of its seventh and final season and will be ending in 2015. Mad Men has great writing and a great cast led by Jon Hamm as suave and slick advertising executive, Don Draper. If you are looking for a good television show with a great cast and great writing, you should definitely give Mad Men a shot.

The Flash (2014-Present,The CW)

This superhero drama is a spinoff of the popular television show Arrow. The Flash focuses on 25 year old forensic assistant, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who after a freak lightning storm caused by a particle accelerator explosion ends up in a coma. After nine months of being in a coma, Barry wakes up to discover that he has the ability to move at super speed! The Flash has a great cast, great writing, and is arguably better than Arrow currently. If you are looking for a fun show with a great plot, and great characters, then definitely check out The CW’s The Flash.

The Walking Dead (2010-Present, AMC)

This Horror/Drama television show focuses on a group of people, who are trying to survive during the zombie apocalypse. Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) leads a group of survivors, who have been through hell, running into some scary people and groups and of course trying to survive being killed by zombies. This show is currently in the middle of its fifth season and has a great cast led by (Andrew Lincoln) and pretty good writing (that admittedly is sometimes slow), but despite that, The Walking Dead is a very entertaining show and worth a look if you’re trying to find a new TV show to get into.

Well this concludes Television 2015: What to Look Out For!
